A 1960’s apartment development left a gap
between the Listed Edwardian Terrace and
the new development. Previous efforts to
achieve planning permission to fill the gap
failed on appeal. We were approached and
sucessfully obtained a permission with a
sympathetic modern brick infill building of
two-bedroom apartments which was inserted
into the narrow gap. The building was
designed to act as a mediator between the
differing architecture and storey heights of
the terraces on either side and completes the
terrace and enclosure to this handsome
Kensington garden square.
The rear of the gap development fronted
onto a row of mews houses. This allowed a
small mews house to be slotted in to form an
end of Mews house in the same vocabulary
as the existing row.
