We were commissioned by St. George Properties
to design and develop a new railway station at
Imperial Wharf on the North London Line. The
new station is located in an area that hitherto has
been ill served by public transport. It provides a
service that allows existing residents in and
around Chelsea Harbour and new residents of the
Imperial Wharf development to interchange onto
the Underground system.
The station entrance is situated at low level
concealed within existing brick arches beneath a
viaduct with the tracks and platforms located high
above. It was important to create an iconic design
that highlights the new station from distant
viewpoints as well as providing facilities for easy
passenger movement up and down from the
platforms. The curved roof and canopies are
prominent features visible from all parts of the
neighbourhood and the transparency of the lift
towers ensure passenger security.
