The practice was commissioned to design the
conversion and fitting out of 2 adjacent shops on
3 levels at the junction of Brompton Road and
Draycott Avenue into a single outlet for the
fashionable men and women clothes designer,
Joseph Ettegui.
The project involved merging the complex
spaces in the 2 shops through a common party
wall. The challenge was to transform the
separate buildings with differing floor levels into
a single coherent space.
The design solution sought to maximise the
space and flow of the retail areas whilst using
the awkward geometry formed by the alignment
of the buildings to generate an interesting and
sucessful retail space. The interior was
designed to be in harmony with and compliment
the simple elegance of the Joseph merchandise
using simple but highly contrasting materials.
